Since I bought the Impreza new in 2015, actually January of 2016, I have had an issue with the transmission and how it sounds as if it was missing the gears. I brought it in and they told me that the normal sound. Went to a dealership in NY same answer, went to a dealership in West Palm, Florida and they told me it was because I need new brakes and rotors on all four tires (thankfully, I knew they were full of it) They then gave me my car and told me the noise was from the brakes. On the ride home there was a clanking noise coming from the rear tire. I then took it to a regular mechanic and he removed the nut they left in the wheel well that made that noise.
When I went to a different dealership in Boynton Beach, after 3 visits to fix the a/c the manager told me my transmission needed to be replaced due to a flaw and that it would be no charge to do it. They knew all about the flaw but none of the dealerships wanted to let their customers know. I really have lost my enthusiasm for Subaru and their policies. Totally money hungry and liars in their service dept.
There was no recall on this transmission and when I asked about it, they told me it was a new model transmission and it was only happening to some of them. I guess the 3 times I asked about the problem wasn't enough for them to do anything.
