I had a very similar accident as the one I read in this site, that happened with a Subaru Impreza 2014 in Pennsylvania on Nov 25. Mine happened in Santiago, Chile on Nov. 27, 2014, with a Subaru Impreza 2014 that I purchased in June this year.
I had the car stopped at an intersection of 2 streets because the traffic light was red. When it turned green and I started to drive, the car suddenly began to accelerate very fast, and when I pushed the brake pedal, it was loose! It was like driving without brakes and with a high speed, so I crashed the traffic light in the corner with such a strength that it tumbled down, and next I crashed 2 iron poles of a gas station that was just in the same corner. It is only after this that the car got to a stop, due to all the damaged that happened with the crash.
I was very lucky that nothing happened to me and that there was nobody standing or walking in that corner, but the car is in very bad condition.
An official Subaru garage where my car was taken for inspection used a select monitor to check my affirmation, but said there is no way to prove the unintended acceleration. I hope Subaru will acknowledge this mechanical failure and respond with the car's guarantee.
