A three year old car, recently serviced, should not burst into flames while riding on highway! Driver and passenger are safe, having reacted quickly by pulling over and leaving car to a safe distance, but very traumatic. After calling Subaru service the response of "gee, that never happened before..." was not very supportive. An investigation by the insurance company will follow, as it was a total loss as car was engulfed in flames within seconds...
Update from Jul 10, 2016:
The conclusion of the forensic investigator:
"The Subaru 4-cylinder engine sustained a catastrophic failure of a connecting rod that punctured through the engine block and the engine compartment then caught fire. "
But of course, Subaru did nothing!! They don't seem to care that others may experience the same issue.
