The clutch pedal on my 2009 WRX makes a loud creaking noise every time it's depressed. When I investigated the noise, I noticed that the entire clutch pedal bracket assembly (attached to the forward firewall) shifts approx 1/4 inch every time the clutch pedal is depressed. I found that the three spot welds securing the clutch pedal bracket to the forward firewall were broken. From the outside of the firewall, just under the windshield wipers, I saw the spot welds pulling away from the firewall every time the clutch pedal was depressed. This allows the entire clutch pedal bracket assembly to move, causing the creaking noise. If the bracket completely separates from the firewall, the clutch may become completely inoperative - especially dangerous while driving. I have a horrible squeak coming from my clutch pedal. For several months now, when I depress and release the clutch a loud squeak squeaking noise is produced. This week the clutch pedal began to squeak constantly while driving as if were loose. I have to brace the clutch pedal with my left foot in order to stop the noise which is constant at most speeds and especially over bumps. A closer look revealed that it appears the welds on the clutch pedal are beginning to fail where it attaches to the vehicle's firewall. This would eventually lead to the pedal breaking off during driving and the potential of a crash.

The bracket that attaches the clutch and brake pedals to the inside firewall has separated from its spot welds and is causing a loud creaking noise, as well as difficulty with shifting gears, and decreased braking ability. Very dangerous situation as it affects your ability to control the vehicle properly.

My clutch started squeaking while driving on the highway. When depressing the clutch, the brake pedal moves toward the drivers side and down. Upon further inspection, I noticed the spot welds that hold the clutch and brake assembly to car were broken and starting to separate from the firewall. Eventually, the welds will fail and completely remove the assembly from the firewall. Thus, clutch and braking abilities will be gone and cause an accident.

The spot welds holding the clutch, brake and gas pedal assembly to the firewall failed entirely, allowing the pedal assembly to become detached from the vehicle and move toward the firewall with any pedal action. I was no longer able to disengage the clutch and the brakes delivered inconsistent performance.

My Subaru's clutch pedal is breaking the spot welds. Pretty soon the clutch pedal will fall off. Subaru wont replace it although it is clearly a manufacturer defect because the car is out of warranty. God forbid I am coming off the highway and this clutch pedal finishes falling off and I can not disengage the car out of gear. This is now happening to the 2008 and 2009 WRX but not the sti because they have a pull type clutch and the pedal engages differently.
