Ever since my father purchased an '04 Outback Sedan H-6 3.0 VDC which was the first car I drove w/Electronic throttle control. We both noticed early that when the throttle was pressed there was a good 1/2 Sec. delay between input and response. There was a electronic "fix" for this problem issued over a year later, but the problem was almost as bad after.
My '08 Impreza has the same issue not quite as bad, but bad enough to be both highly annoying and worse a safety hazard.
The delay between throttle input and acceleration esp. from a stand still has caught me flat footed at times when pulling out of an intersection. I have to plan ahead from the time the throttle is pushed to engine responding, and in the real world timing the throttle input ahead isn't always a possibility.
I was told this was normal for throttle by wire systems, however I've driven numerous other vehicles w/this feature not Subarus that have very little to no lag at all.
This is a safety and and drive-ability issue which ought to have been fixed by now.
If this is operating within specs. then Subaru needs to take a long hard look at it's specs!
Tired of the same old problems year after year, model after model from Subaru!
