problem #2

Dec 162013

Impreza 2.5I 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 48,591 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Just before Christmas of 2013 with the car being on 2008 and the warranty coverage expiring two years prior due to the 3 years coming first (3 years or 60,000 km's) and the car having only 78,200 km's my clutch releasing bearing broke. Took the vehicle to my mechanic and I was told that I probably ride the clutch (I have 20 years of experience driving a manual transmission) 2 prior cars 1987 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2001 Honda civic both manual never had problems with the transmission except to replace the clutch at the usual mileage.

I checked out some blogs and found out that this is a common issue if i remember correctly the lowest mileage that i saw with an Impreza was 10,000 miles and Subaru is not covering this problem along with the head gasket but that is another issue. Since I had to replace the bearing and the clutch assembly was out might as well replace the clutch which was another $600 (Canadian) not going to pay for labour twice. I have a lot more problems with this car it was built on a F&%KING MONDAY BY SOMEBODY WHO HAD A HANGOVER no other explanation.

Dec 242011

Impreza 2.5L V4

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Day before Christmas, clutch died in parking lot of mall. Froze my butt off; took 2 hrs. to get car towed to dealership at my expense. Had to borrow, then rent a car. Dealership called 12/26/2011, said not under warranty; it was a "wear" point. They had done a rush warranty transmission job less than 6,000 miles earlier. Asked to speak to service manager. He implied that I was ignorant about what constitutes a clutch, then HUNG UP on me! I had car towed to a better establishment, and kept the "defective" parts; owner/master mechanic said problem was NOT a wear point, showed me the parts, and said I would have a winnable lawsuit against Subaru, should I want to pursue the issue. I was very ill at that time, so did not. Still have parts showing that Service Mgr. at Subaru was full of BS. Will never darken their door again! RIP OFF; DEFECTIVE; LEMON CAR!!!!!!!!!!
