This has been a problem free car, except for this and the blower motor. Had the timing belt replaced by a dealer,(yes I know it was supposed to be done at 100,000 miles, and it may have been, there were no markings indicating it had been done, so we did it just in case it hadn't been done) and an exhaust leak. The power steering pump was whining when I got the car back.
I took it back to the dealer the next day. They said to drive it for a few days to get what they said was some air out of the system. So I did. I've actually driven over 1,200 miles. It's still there. Took it back last week and they said it was air. (Again) Took it to an independent mechanic and they told me it was normal wear and tear. I'm blaming it on the dealer. Dealer quoted me $800-$1000 to fix it. The dealer also broke the cover on the timing belt. And blamed it on me. I've only ever opened the hood to jump someone else's car... Just don't go to Fairway Subaru, or North Hills automotive.
