I bought a new Subaru Forrester. Almost immediately a noise started coming from the area by the driver's heat. Sounds like it may be the seat belt retractor.
Went back to the dealer a few times and they heard it and made multiple repairs mostly near the sunroof (not where the noise was heard). Car was in the shop over a month cumulatively.
Latest was I asked a Subaru field engineer to listen and diagnose as the dealership seemed to have no clue. Car did not make noise that day or during that visit. Started again the day after I picked it up. Of course, that means they do not know what to do in spite of past visits.
Loaner Forrester from dealer does not have issue. Random owners of the same vehicle I stop do not have the problem.
Not a loud clattering -- more like an electrical buzzing or vibration. Loud enough to record on my Iphone holding it by my head. Loud enough for the passenger to hear with the radio and air on. It is in the category of very annoying and something I should not have to live with in a new car.
Giving them a final email and I guess I have to see an attorney. Stupid waste of time and they are destroying the goodwill of a family of Subaru owners.
