Car purchased new in Feb 2018. In November 2018, the front right wheel was bald. 18k miles on a set of tires. Granted they were crappy yokohama tires, but still, I would think a person could reasonably expect 30k out of even crap tires. Had the alignment done, and that right front wheel was way off. New tires put on all around, cooper this time. Service shop said some part on these cars is kinda soft, easily deformed, allowing it to go out of alignment easier than something like my Tundra. He assured me that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that Subaru provides very tight tolerances on what is considered "out", and it protects the vehicle in the long term.
Dec 2019 - the wheels are out of alignment again, and not just a little. Again, despite rotating the tires every 5-6k miles, I have two tires that are bald on one edge. The vehicle isn't 3 years old and is on its 3rd set of tires.
Another tidbit to consider... around the 2 year mark, the right front wheel started clicking. Later found out the axle is bad and it is being replaced as I write this (Mar 2021). So I have to wonder... was the axle bad from the get go? Does it have something to do with the vehicle not staying in alignment and burning up tires?
