My Subaru Forester 2017, started making noise on the front wheel while I drove on the highway in 90's and 100's. Especially while turning slightly left it makes a wobbly sound and tremors can be felt on the steering. I went to the local mechanics and they said the problem with the Front lower control arm bushes was badly chopped out and it is going to cost AUD 890. The mechanic said it is unusual for a car that young driven less than 55k to have that problem. Hence, I felt I must share this so that Subaru Co. might take notice of the problem.

When looking through Youtube and various Subaru forums, sounds like this is a fairly common issue. Happened at a relatively low mileage and although I didn't let it get too bad, was starting to shake pretty badly at all speeds.

lower control arm bushing worn causing wheel bounce lower control arm bushing worn causing wheel bounce

84,000 miles and the lower control arm bushings were torn on both sides. Driver side worse than the passenger side. Created severe wheel bounce at highway speed, especially in a slight left turn following the curve of the highway.

I ordered aftermarket parts and did the work in my garage at home. The job took me three hours and the help of a friend to complete the job. Doing it myself saved me over $450 from the dealer quote.

Crap design for these items to wear out in such a short time.
