The contact stated that he had to restart the vehicle or move the shift lever back and forth from the park position to release the key from the ignition. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the failure could be related to the shifter cable or the ignition switch. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer Subaru of melbourne located at 4340 West new haven ave melbourne fl 32904, who diagnosed that the park range switch was defective inside the gear select lever assembly. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 26,000.
