This seems to be premature for rust on a spot that is on the inside of the driver's side door near the weld spots where the window frame and door body meet. I've seen a number of very similar cases that other Subaru Forester owners have posted on various internet forums that all seem to suggest there is some sort of defect in the way these doors are designed, manufactured or assembled. Unfortunately, I noticed this issue just as my 3 year 60,000 km warranty expired. While this is not a major safety issue, if I now don't get this fixed, based on the pictures of other cases I saw on the internet forums, I suspect the corrosion will expand and could eventually damage and impact the integrity of door on the B-pillar. After switching to Subaru from a Toyota that did not have any significant rust for nearly a decade, I am so disappointed to see this quality issue.
