We bought a new Subaru Forester in December 2015, after doing research on reliability and resale value. In our first trip in adverse weather conditions we were shocked to find out how poorly the vehicle handled on snow and icy roads, we had to drive well below the traffic speed just to feel safe as the vehicle floated and felt unstable, making us a hazard on the roadway. Driving on dry roads did not seem to be a problem although it was noted that the vehicle floated on grooved or uneven pavement. The vehicle was returned to the dealer with this complaint (approx10,00kms) they suggested a wheel alignment, very small adjustments were made and the drivability was no better. We also noticed excessive wear on the back tires, the dealer told us to get them rotated more often. (Is this a ploy to mask uneven wear??) The following fall winter tires were installed and it completely changed the vehicle's behavior, far better handling in snow and ice conditions, it seems Subaru's selection of tires is not matching their vehicle.
