Just want to start by saying I am not new to driving manual. I am a loyal person and was a loyal Honda driver - and all the clutches on those cars (Accord and Civic) lasted well over 100k. So it was a big deal when I switched over to Subaru after extensive research and personal testimonies saying it is a reliable company, especially when it comes to the Forester.
I have LOVED my Forester. I constantly have people asking me, when I'm gassing up, or in a parking lot, etc, how do I like my Forester, and I always say it's been reliable and safe and one I would highly recommend. But when a clutch completely burns out at 39k with no warning and I'm told it's not covered under the Powertrain warranty - that is alarming to me. It's basically saying I need to replace my transmission at 39k.
They did offer to cover less than 50% out of goodwill. Which is a great help. But in all of my research of other foresters (granted - I recognize not many drive manual anymore, so there will be less complaints regarding a clutch failure) - I see people getting above 100k on their original clutch. I would appreciate the repair fully covered, as this is such a rare repair to have to replace a clutch at 39k.
