CarComplaints.com Notes: Subaru thinks burning through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so is perfectly normal. That's a crude stance if you ask us.

We have a 2015 Subaru Forester, which we purchased new in 2014. We got the extended warranty, 72 months or 125000 miles, at a cost of $1900. Due to COVID, we greatly decreased the number of miles driven, as we were working from home (saving 250 miles a week for commute only, not to mention no shopping, dining out, movies, theater, etc.), so the MONTHS expired prior to the miles...the 72 months expired in July.
In 2017, while under warranty, the vehicle no longer worked. When hitting the gas, nothing happened. The "fix" was to replace the throttle assembly, as I recall. In 2018, the SAME thing happened...and the dealership "fixed" it again. Now, in 2020, the SAME thing happened again! I had the car towed to the same dealership that we purchased the car from and had all our service done with, and they are telling us that the throttle failed and needs to be replaced. I reminded them that this was the THIRD time this failed, and they said they would look at the history. They contacted someone from Subaru and found out that it was likely the wiring harness having an open circuit or something causing the failure. Notice how the extended warranty expired due to months?
Now, I have a $3200 bill for something that should have been fixed in 2017! When I spoke with the Service Manager, I argued with him about this bill, but he claims that there's not much he can do. I never lost my patience with him (but it was not easy). After "discussing" my issue further, I think he understands where I am coming from...there's no way I should have to had replaced it 3 times in the space of 30000 miles. He said that he would reach out to his Subaru rep and see what can be done. Any suggestions what I can do, if I don't get a satisfactory answer from the Service Manager?
