CarComplaints.com Notes: Is burning a quart of oil every 1,000 miles normal? Depends on who you ask. While Subaru says it's within "normal specifications," owners wonder why they need to top off their oil reservoir 4 times between every 5,000 mile oil change.

I have a 2014 Forester that developed a spontaneous almost imperceptible linear crack at the bottom of the windshield starting at the heat strip and continuing in an oval fashion to the other side. The car has heated windshield wiper rests, and the defrosters had been on. Car was sitting in a parking lot on a 6 degree day, when my wife noticed it before driving off. Took it to Subaru, they said it was not a recalled vehicle.
I have not had work done. THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURING OEM ISSUE, There is no evidence of a stone chip, star burst pattern or indentation. The only driving before or after this crack was on neighborhood streets with maximum speeds of 25 to 35 mph with no truck traffic. THERE IS NO WAY I OR THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE THINLY MANUFACTURED WINDSHIELDS. THE COST IS APPROXIMATELY $1,200 because of eyesite feature. I have been told this is not a Subaru exclusive issue.
PLEASE HELP! How should I proceed????
