My new 2011 Forester had oil seepage, which they found in Dec. 2014 at 31,000 miles. Said they couldn't fix until it leaked. When it did they put dye in to find the leak. They pulled engine and supposedly fixed it. Under warranty at least. Now 10/1/16, 41,000 miles, it is seeping again. They told me the same thing. Bring it in when it starts leaking. How am I supposed to know this for sure before I've lost all oil if the oil light doesn't go on, which I don't trust that it will? They'll probably have to pull engine again. This is a recurring problem. I've read the horror stories and am very nervous about driving it. I'm now 66 years old, female, and have never experienced anything close to having an engine pulled, let alone recurring. I want to get rid of the car and get something else, NOT A SUBARU. My QUESTION is what do I tell new dealer why I'm trading it in? Should I tell them about this problem? If they do a Carfax it will show up, as I've always taken it to the same Subaru Dealer. How can I get rid of the car? I still owe $10,000 on it.
What should I do?
