While pulling into a parking space at a store, going very slow, I stepped on my brake and there was a huge jerking motion and car accelerated very quickly and hit the car in front of mine before my car stopped! Very scary. The bumpers were damaged. Luckily there were no bodily injuries and no person was injured. I have heard this on other cars not Suburu so I was stunned.

Four times my Subaru Forester engine has revved up and lurched ahead when I attempted to stop the car by stepping on the brake, almost hitting oncoming vehicles. I had to put the entire weight of my body and both feet on the brake to get the car stopped the last time. I immediately took it into the dealer the last time after they looked at the car two times before for the same issue, and after keeping the car for the weekend said "they could not duplicate", their favorite term! This is very dangerous and they are lucky I haven't hit a car YET, but they will not address the issue because the car doesn't do this when they drive it. I've owned the car for four years and it's only done it three times, three dangerous times!, and of course it doesn't do it when it is in their shop!

We threatened to call the media, notify the Better Business Bureau, or sue them, and they just don't care! It is easier and cheaper for them to pay for bodily injuries than to admit something is wrong, for fear they will have to recall many Subaru Foresters, or perhaps take on a class action law suit!

We read several reports on this website that addressed this exact issue, and yet Subaru refuses to even try to fix anything, or at least to admit there is anything wrong, for the reasons stated above.

We cannot list the three other times the car has done this because we did not document them and do not have the exact dates. The exact thing happened three other times, and after the first time I notified the dealer in Erie and got the same result - "could not duplicate"! And they did nothing!
