steering problem
Car jerks continuously when I turn the steering wheel medium-hard to the left or right. Feels like the tires are going over railroad tracks or like former Subarus did when the axles were going bad. The dealer and a private repair shop checked it and said they thought it had to do with a slow leak in the power steering fluid or that the fluid pump might be going bad. Fixing the leak will cost about $1400+ so I've been advised to just keep filling the fluid for now. I've had 3 Subarus now; the first had trouble with synchronizer rings and disintegrating axle boots/axles, the second with head gaskets blowing, and now this. My husband says no more Subarus.

My mechanic recommended that I just let the power steering pump eventually die as we thought that was the issue. Because I take the car skiing and didn't want the steering wheel jerking at low speeds on ice, I chose to spend $800 to replace it (not at the dealership but with Subaru parts/fluid etc). Didn't fix the problem so now I'm out $800 and still have a steering wheel that jerks when turning hard right or left at low speeds. VERY annoyed.
