This s***box takes a quart of oil every 300 mile. No smoke or anything, it just vanishes. Otherwise it a wonderful vehicle. My son bought it off ebay and fixed it up for me when I had cancer last year. First time i checked the oil it was 2 quarts down, I guess that why it was fairly cheap. Should have been fixed a long time ago. I have a Grand Cherokee that does not use oil and it has 200,000 miles on it. Wish someone would fix it, it's a pain in my ass.

DO NOT BUY A SUBARU!!!

At around 55,000km or 35,000 miles, I thought I had an oil leak at my head gaskets. Both gaskets were soaked with oil and my own mechanic told me that Subaru will try to string me along and tell me this is normal. I took it in to the Subaru dealer to get it checked and they told me everything was normal and as per Subaru standards. As it turns out, the oil filter I had was leaking. But they never mentioned this to me when I had it in the shop.

So I had to take it back in again because it was still leaking oil, or so I thought. The second trip in they tell me it is leaking from a faulty oil filter. So I get an oil change and figure the oil leak and loss of oil was done. Thank god! Only to find that I am still losing oil as I check my oil every few fill ups or so. So again my vehicle goes back in...the result? Apparently, it is normal", again, as per Subaru, to lose oil.

I have driven this 4 banger like an old woman and I have had 3 major issues with this vehicle within 60,000km. Unbelievable. And all 3 issues get brushed aside. The dealer sounds like they have a protocol in place to protect Subaru's liability. I think Subaru knows that if they actually had to fix all these issues of high oil consumption, they would be broke by now. So they wait until the warranty period expires, string you along by telling you it is normal, and then you are screwed when the warranty is up. I have also been offered to do the "oil consumption test", and it is apparent from others on here that it is just a joke. Inconvenience you and make you jump through hoops just to get an obvious flaw in the engine assessed, when really they should just fix it.

I owned 2 GM's for 20 years before this and listened to my friends that said "buy an import" cause of the reliability and resale value...really? What value is in this POS now? Again, do not buy a Subaru...let's make this company go back into obscurity like it once was decades ago. They do not deserve to grow, but instead they should be shrinking as a company.

I will be glad when I am rid of this service nightmare and sell this to someone else and let them deal with all this crap and multiple appointments. Wafj!!!
