The purpose of this Service Information bulletin is to advise Technicians about DTC B279A12: ?ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM CIRCUIT SHORT TO AUX BATTERY?. For 2019MY, this DTC will always be indicated when inspecting for Readiness Codes using the Subaru Select Monitor. It will set because although the ECM?s self-diagnosis function includes the DTC, there is no target value included in the logic to test against. Therefore, the test result is incomplete and the DTC is stored. Even though the DTC is displayed, the system is normal and no attempt should be made to diagnose or repair it. The logic will be changed for 2020MY.
