Out the door, I paid $29,271. for this 2018 Subaru. Legacy Dealer in La Grande OR gave me an Experian CarCheck and a 142 point inspection that the car was functioning and in good shape. About 2 weeks later I realized the car couldn't keep a charge if it wasn't used for about 30 hours.
I figured bad battery - spent much time trying to figure out. All electrical tested fine. I bought a charger.
Nope, it was diagnosed as a bad data control module for communications (Starlink, radio, other stuff.) Pulling a fuse will disable important functions.
It's a $900. fix. IF the dealer ever moved the car around the lot, they had to know it would not keep a charge, so I think the dealer misrepresented the goods as functional. But they won't unwind the deal and compensate me for what I paid.
The issue appears to be the same issue as the class action lawsuit issue - the defective Starlink system draining the battery - but the lawsuit left out Crosstreks. I would sure love it if Subaru stood behind this defective car. Otherwise - Love. It's NOT what makes this Subaru.
