Crosstrek

This infotainment/radio system has a mind of its own! Changes stations randomly on its own - even if the radio is off when I turn off the car, when I start it up the next day, the radio is on and sometimes LOUD and there is a delay when I try to turn it off. Super annoying and odd, and I can see by other complaints that I am not alone.

So this is Radio #4 & it's still acting stupid shut down on the way to work last week. Then popped up with no music. Took it back to the dealership. Contact Subaru US whom basically said; too bad, so sad. Go suck on a lemon & enjoy the ride.

As previously posted: This is the "first" time the vehicle went into the Shop for this issue, wasn't the last time either. Subaru has NO fix for this issue but they won't admit it . They just keep "updating" the software. Just check the Subaru forums on the web, complaints are rampant & there are two class actions suits as a result of this mess.

In the 40 odd years I've been driving & purchasing vehicles, at least 30 at this point & counting, this is the worst handling of a mess I've every encountered. Mind you, it's a car issue right? When has a auto manufacture EVER stood up & taken care of their customers - never right? So ya, Subaru is just like the rest when it comes to actually taking stock of this issue, which isn't just limited to the Crosstrek, Nope, it's ALL their 2018's since they started using the Harmon V3 radio chassis.

I've had "blip" issues with the computer system freezing up where the radio, map, backup camera, etc can't be used on and off since I got the car about a year ago. They were minor and usually resolved themselves in a few minutes.

Today, the computer gave me static when I tried to use the backup camera, and it flashes the warning screen when I used the steering wheel volume controls. The screen appears frozen, but I was able to access other radio channels by clicking where the channels should be. For example, the system was froze on the FM radio presets, but I was able to click on SiriusXM. Of note, the screen remained frozen on the FM stations, but when I clicked the preset station for 103.7fm, I was taken to the corresponding SiriusXM station preset.

I made two stops where the car was off for a few minutes both times, but the issue was not fixed.

In the past, the possible trigger was a wild temperature change. I'll see if the system resets after letting the car sit for a few hours.
