My daughter was in Jackson, Wyoming in July 2018 when she found the paint on her very new Crosstrek was flaking off. She took it to a dealer when it had 34,000 miles on it who told her it was a KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT but that he did not have the capacity to repaint it. We had purchased an extended warranty and assumed we could get the car repainted even if it had over 36,000 miles since the defect was discovered before the original warranty was exceeded. When we took the car to the dealer in New York, he told us Subaru will pay to repaint the car, but not to remove or replace the trim and bumpers to do the painting correctly. We must pay more than $1700 for removal and replacement of trim! When we called Subaru of America, they acted like we were lucky they would pay anything. WHAT IS THE POINT OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IF IT DOESN'T EVEN COVER FACTORY DEFECTS????
This has us SO angry that even though we own three Subarus I don't think we will ever purchase another one. What a lousy way to treat customers. Subaru should take responsibility for defect repair!
