Clockspring failures leading to no horn no signals no wiper.

I'm a mechanic . and I must say I find it completely unacceptable that a SAFETY FEATURE device... the clock spring controls the blinkers the horn (WHICH IS THE FIRST INDICATOR ITS GOING, can no longer honk/ only works while turning etc) it also controls the wipers front and back ... everything on the wheel and the steering column is controlled by the clockspring ... some cars even the AIR BAG is controlled by the clockspring . ITS INSANE THIS ISNT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY . no recalls, nothing, and yet its a BLANTANT SAFETY ISSUE . Just look it up for urself "HORN STOPPED WORKING" , "BLINKERS STOPPED WORKING" theres so many of there its NUTS Subaru hasn't addressed this.

This complaint is about my WIFES car... but in my shop I've personally seen and have had to replace ... hold on let me check... 37 clocksprings in the last 2 years on Subaru's all 2013 and up (not sure if this is the years its an issue its just the years I've personally replaced for customers .. and I'm not a SUBARU DEALER just an out of the way shop! So if I'm seeing this and other mechanics I talk too are also seeing the same issues ... SUBARU NEEDS TO STEP UP

My horn stopped working out of nowhere. I checked the fuse, and the relay and both were fine. I checked the wires and there was no disconnect or fraying there. I suspected it was the clock spring and confirmed this by being able to get the horn to work when turning the wheel 90 degrees to the right and left. I had never even heard of a clock spring until I had this problem so you know it is not something that breaks often.
