It is ridiculous that a brand new car, parked in a carport apparently now has to have it's own dedicated cat to keep the mice out of the engine compartment. This is apparently not an unknown issue, and Subaru isn't the only manufacturer to deal with it - but come on, I just paid north of $50,000 for a new car for my wife and less than a year in, we can't depend on it because of some ridiculous decision made in the name of cost cutting and "eco-signaling". I've had other vehicles parked in exactly the same spot for nearly a deacade with zero issues, I live next to a pasture, so guess what, mice will always be a thing - so now we are supposed to prop the hood open, put a light on the engine, set traps, spray with coyote piss or peppermint, etc etc... This is not acceptable - and it makes me question any other new car purchase, I think I will finally dig out my old 240Z and spend $25,000 to get it roadworthy again, at least then I'll have something that will be appreciating in value and that I can work on myself....
