I have a 2020 Ascent. I have roughly 32k miles as of 10/2021. 1st service within 1500k miles squeaky brakes in IL. They replaced front pads, resurfaced front rotors. 2nd visit at 23k miles in Santa Ana, CA. Pulsating brakes. They said excessive runout and out of spec, tech noticed hot spots also, replaced front rotors as goodwill gesture. 3rd visit 31,803 miles Bakersfield, CA. Brakes pulsating when braking. HAD TO GET SOA INVOLVED.
They replaced front brakes per SOA bulletin. They replaced front rotors as goodwill gesture. Took to a different dealer because my car was worse. 4th Visit (406 miles later) 32,309 miles Lancaster, CA. Same issue but braking worse. Replaced REAR rotors and brake pads. They didn't test drive car for pulsating while at the dealership. They put .03 miles on my car within 4 days. Took back the next day at the same Lancaster Subaru 32,492 miles because my car was still pulsating when brakes applied.
SOA said the dealer saw some warping in front rotors but was not warranted. They said due to "excessive braking". At this point they are blaming me for the issue. SOA said they are having the dealer resurface the front (new) rotors as a one time good gesture but isn't covered under warranty. That is what CORY from SOA in the escalations department said to me. How is it possible that I caused warping in the rotors at 183 miles since my new rotors were put on?? SOA is telling me it was my excessive braking. I told him its obviously something more internal thats causing these issues.
Asked CORY to have a regional certified Subaru technician to look at my car but he said my car doesn't apply to be looked at. This is BS!!! I see many and plenty of others having the same thing happen to their ascent. I told Nicole at Lancaster Subaru that I think the issue is the adaptive cruise control feature as I won't use it when driving my 1.5 hr home and see if thats the culprit. So I drove home with no help at all with cruise and believe it or not my brakes seem to be doing much better.
NOW, Cory at Soa needs to figure out how he will address this issue as I need my adaptive cruise control feature fixed and they can put new rotors on because they didn't recommend them resurface it from the beginning. @#$%$
