I went to start vehicle via push button and the gauges move like normal but it will not start. Front headlights are on and the heater fan is running and it would not shut off. I did some online searching and found other people having same issue. They said to hold the start button in for 10 seconds and that turned the fan and headlights off but it still would not start. I hooked it up and the battery charger to it and it is charging, so I will wait and see if it will charge back up.

I'm supposed to bring it in next week for the 6K service, so if it won't charge, they can come pick it up. This is the second problem I've had in 6 months on this new $40K vehicle and if Subaru won't address the issues. I'm either going to see if I can get them to buy back via lemon law or just trade it on something more reliable. I would wait several years to see if they fix all the issues people are reporting, and it's sad because I really do like the vehicle. Save your $$, do not buy a new Subaru Ascent - the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, or Mazda CX9 would be a much better choice.

7 months into owning, this car needed a new battery. This was the second major issue with this car in two months.

Electrical failure with no warning. 2019 Subaru Ascent lightly used and garage kept. Gas station stop, and all electrical systems failed on trying to start. Nothing works at all. Closest dealership says need diagnostic. In midst of having towed. Not a dead battery issue--no lights left on etc. Cold, but its Colorado. Complete system failure. Highly frustrating. Have seen similar issues from others, and usual first fix is buy a new battery. The battery is 14 months old. And even a dead battery does not fail so suddenly without warning and cause all electrical systems to go dark. One complaint suggested loose wiring harness--will see what Groove Subaru Silverthorne says. But to go loose while sitting at a gas station seems very dubious to me.

2019 Ascent with 35000 miles. My wife went to start the car to go to work and nothing happened. I put the battery charger to boost and the car started up. I turned the car off and went in side and called dealership service. They said if it happens again call us and we will have to tow it in , do not jump start it. I went back outside and tried to start it, nothing. I had it towed to dealership. They had to jump it to get it in the shop then said the battery was fine and could not find the reason. They should have tested the battery first then jumped it!! Not impressed with the outcome. I am about to go over 36000 and next time the tow will be on me because it sounds like there will be a next time. Just hope my Wife is not stranded somewhere. Also, getting rotors looked at for the second time since purchase.

So - I'm experiencing the same as other postings here, which is disappointing at best, and scary at worst. The first time my Ascent had no power, I got a jump start and took it to the dealer - they replaced the battery claiming a "bad cell". Then - about 5 months later, lost complete power again. Jump started it, took it to the dealer. They kept it 2 days, couldn't find anything wrong. And now - it happened again! I also bought the Ascent for use with my dogs and thank God they haven't been in their kennels in the back when the power was lost - I would not be able to get them out! I feel especially bad because I had recommended the Ascent to a fellow dog owner and she has been experiencing the same power issues. UGH! C'mon Subaru - do something about this issue or every time I see your dog commercials I'll be commenting out loud about how bad this is to anyone who's in earshot!

Drove 45 miles to dentist appointment, after 1 hour came out and car did not start. Had to use key for entry. Called AAA for jump and called dealer, drove to dealer. Dealer could not find problem. Same thing happened twice since. I jumped with my other vehicle.

More recent problem is the BRAKE notification showing up on dash after 1 or 2 miles driving. Owners manual says to have vehicle towed to dealer. This occurred 3 times. the notification goes away after restarting vehicle. Vehicle is at the dealer now. Telephone calls with service agent reveals they can't locate either problem. This BRAKE notification is a recent event beginning in May 2019.
