Bought brand-new Smart for Two in November 2013 for the sole reason that I wanted to improve my carbon footprint and the Smart promised excellent gas mileage. In fact, for the first few months, it got 40+ mpg, with most of my driving done in heavy traffic. I was thrilled. But by the following January, mileage began to deteriorate significantly and by autumn of 2014, I was down to about 32 mpg. I asked the dealer about this. They said I could expect lower mileage when the air conditioner was in use. In fact, the mileage has stayed at this low point whether I'm using the AC or not. I've been very fastidious about maintenance for the life of the car (now at about 62K miles). Anyone else having this problem? BTW, this is the gas automatic transmission model, not the electric.
