The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Xd. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the bearing to the water pump fractured and caused the drive belt to fracture. In addition, the engine stalled. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump bearing failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

Water pump went on the car at 63,000 miles, with no warning whatsoever. Bearings came flying out of the water pump, belt fell off and car wouldn't drive. $75 part. $950 for labor.
