After receiving word that my 2012 Scion XB is involved in the Takata airbag recall, I phoned Toyota corporate. In the letter on official Toyota letterhead, I was told it's best not to operate my vehicle with passengers in the car. After explaining this is a family car, transporting two small children under 6 daily, I was then informed that local dealerships are offering loaner vehicles to Toyota/Scion drivers until a solution is found. Was told this could take anywhere from 3-4 months to two years to rectify. Have a loaner car, and would like to say thanks to Toyota for helping out drivers. But they really need to press Takata to do more. There are millions of these cars on the roads. The scale of this is mind-boggling, and I do not blame car makers for these problems. But I do hope they are doing everything they can to ensure that these cars are not carrying a dangerous component.
