Called Customer service they took complaint and I told them I was going to Ft. Myers Toyota. Auto Body Manager said "Oh, Iv'e not seen this before paint peeling in sheets off the roof of the car...not true because it is a KNOWN FACT on Toyota's own site for ALL of the White Scion XB cars. My car had LESS then 30,000 miles. After much back n forth Toyota FINALLY put it under MY extend warranty that I had purchased. I told them the ENTIRE car needed to be repainted saying "I'll be back in less than a year because I KNOW the rest of this car will also peel. Guess what….almost a year to the date my front hood sides back...ALL OVER is now peeling...I feel like I am driving a ghetto car!! I called Toyota and they said they can NOT do anything about it!!

Well let me tell you something I have owned 4 Scions 2005-2012 and the newest one 2012 WHITE has been the ONLY one with the LEAST amount of miles that the paint is peeling and continues to peel off. My car now has 37,000 and the spots are ALL over the car peeling and bubbling up, some look like "a razor slit it"

I will now log a second complaint. I demand to have a representative call me regarding this ongoing issue I SAID it would be no more then a year and I was RIGHT!! I'm not even a auto body / paint person and can see that it would.

TOYOTA IS COVERING UP THIS WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH THE WHITE PAINT PEELING DUE TO IMPROPER BODY PREP & APPLICATION OF THE WHITE PAINT!!! I WANT A CALL & THIS ISSUE FIXED!!! AGAIN LESS THEN 40,000 MILES AND SECOND INSTANCE!!!

Brought my car to a repair shop for hail damage. The paint peeling was NEVER noticed till the bad hail storm came through twice. Was told by a adjuster that he looked into it and 2012 white Scions were known to have a POOR paint job and it's a common thing with 2012 White Scion xb. So once it starts it's just gonna continue to peel and they were NOT gonna cover the paint job. Who has money to get an ENTIRE car repainted? I trusted that Toyota would make this right but no luck by the sounds of it. HOW SAD NOT TO BACK UP THEIR VEHICLES. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FROM THEM EVER AGAIN.

SECOND COMPLAINT!!!

My 2012 Scion XB WHITE paint with less then 38,000 miles began peeling on ALL of the car with the exception of the roof, since this was the first area that peeled and Toyota covered it under MY extended warrant, now the rest of the ENTIRE car is peeling which I told Toyota when they agreed to repaint the roof I wanted the entire car painted because it will have the same defect as the roof in less then a years time....that is EXACTLY what has happened. I went to Ft. Myers Toyota left a message and they called back saying they were NOT paying for it!!!!

I will be calling Toyota & sending a letter with pictures and DEMAND this be taken care of. I owned 4 Toyota Scion XB's and the newest with less then 28,000 is the ONLY one I've had this well know documented issue with. Toyota is well aware of this that the car was not prepped correctly and the paint application was not properly applied. I even took the car to an "Independent Auto Paint" shop and they stated : This is a well know defect by Toyota and they should properly prep and re-paint your entire car!!!

This is a bunch of F*king BS when I've paid good money for this care only to have the paint peel off and basically be to Tuff Sht lady!!!

Well Toyota I'm NOT backing down. You have to STAND behind your shoddy work and FIX IT!!!

the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets

I love this car except for when the paint started coming off. There is no reason for this to happen other than that the factory is at fault and should fix this right away. This fault paint job is bad quality. I tried contacting the dealer, I tried through Twitter. Also they put me into contact with some person that couldn't help me at all. Just wasting my time. I feel they are making me go through hoops so I give up and they can get away without fixing my issue.

Really... Toyota just fix my paint!! This is not a good business move for you guys. I know there many more people with the same issue. All I want was what I paid for which is normal wearing and tear type paint job. Not this peeling sh*t. Make this right Toyota and help us out by fixing your issue with your cars. It is true that one bad experience makes the whole difference, I have always been happy with you guys until now.

Previously had a problem with the paint on the roof of my car. Now I have to deal with more paint starting to peel after I had the roof re-painted. Sure enough as the paint experts told me the first time, this car would just start peeling in other places, so it has!!! You would think Toyota would fix this issue since it is their fault for defective paint job! Help!!

Got a ding on the roof (falling branch probably) a few flakes around the ding.

Washed the car a few months later.

Every time it rains a new section of paint comes off. Sometimes a few inches, sometimes a square foot. (my pictures would match others on this thread). Stone dings (under a mm) on the hood do not spread... yet.

Dealer was "astonished" and had never seen anything like it... and was no help.

the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets the paint is coming off in sheets

The paint is peeling off from entire roof and other parts of the car. It started with just a few small spots and then quickly progressed to large sheets of paint falling off. I contacted local body shop and I was told that it was unusual paint problem and, they suggested contacting Toyota dealer. So I did.

Toyota service rep told me that they were very aware of the issue with the paint however, since the car is out of warranty, they said that there was nothing they could do to help. They gave me phone number, 1-800-331-4331 and suggested I contact Toyota Customer Service. Susan, Toyota service representative, very nicely told me that she was not aware of any problems related to paint peeling off. She logged in my complaint, gave me my complaint number and wished me merry Christmas. That's it! What?!?!?! they are not aware of the problem?

Internet is full of pissed off Scion and Toyota owners complaining about the same issue. Local dealerships also know about it. Many already reported the problem to Toyota and they are not aware of the problem? I don't believe it for a second. They simply ignore it till somebody does something about it.

If anyone is planning on filing class action lawsuit, I would be glad to contribute.

I love my car! But the paint is coming off! Toyota needs to recall the paint and fix the problem. I have never had a car to do this.
