Windshield has a design flaw. Stress point under the top windshield molding caused a crack to travel 14 inches down the windshield.

2004 Scion Xb. Car drove by, small stone hit windshield. Very tiny mark on windshield. While I was driving, a huge crack spread all the way across the windshield. I've never had a car before that with a small chip or stone mark, the whole windshield cracks. This has too be a design flaw. Maybe they need to coat the windshield for protection, or change the design.

I have a 2004 Scion Xb. I bought it new in March '04. I recently found out that the Xb has a design flaw. The size of the windshield and the stress points cause cracking very easily. It turns out the Toyota bb in Japan had this problem but it wasn't considered a big problem. The bb is the Scion Xb here in America. According to Scion, they know this is a design flaw and are going to change some of its design in the '08 model. They are not very concerned about how we owners feel on this subject. There are many forums out there with many Scion owners complaining about these windshields. Many have had to replace them 3-4 times. I think Toyota has dropped the ball and I feel really angry. I bought this car because of the reputation and my experience with Toyota products. Now I feel left out. They need to recall these cars. They are unsafe.
