Vue XR 3.2L

Power Steering suddenly got stiff to turn, making terrible noises typical of P/S failure. The fluid was full, but I changed it with only slight improvement - but too stiff to turn when driving slowly. I replaced it myself and added a magnetic inline filter. the cost to do yourself is under $100, but I added in the filter and high cost synthetic fluid and some minor extras (serpentine belt and pulley puller), so cost came to about $150 plus about 6 hours of labor including ordering parts and test diagnostics. Not easy to align the pump fitting to the steering gear and ensure the oil seals are inserted prior to installation. This Vue also had a failed transmission and H20 pump and rear exhaust vibration during start up problems

While driving to school my 2008 Saturn Vue the power steering suddenly went out. I parked and turned off the car. after 15minutes I restarted it and started driving everything was fine. this is the 3th time that it happens. I spend some money fixing it and it happens again. I would like to know what is the problem or what part I need to replace. I know that this is a common problem and the GM is doing nothing to fix the problem.

Vue XE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

SATURN OUTLOOKS HAD A RECALL FOR THIS BUT NOT THE VUE. EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. COULD PROBLEM BE JUST WIRING AND NOT MOTOR?
