My 2008 Saturn Vue ignition key wouldn't rotate to OFF and it wouldn't come out when the car was in Park. The only way I could get the key out was to pull the ignition 2amp Fuse. The power windows or the power mirrors wouldn't work, so it was the first thing I checked when I started the car. If the windows wouldn't come down, then I knew that the key wouldn't come out when I stopped and put the shifter into Park.
The dealer replaced the ignition switch and it worked for a week and then the problem returned. It should be noted that this problem was intermittent to begin with and didn't happen every time. There are Internet videos that show that other models have the same problem and GM will make a dollar adjustment. However, the 2008 Saturn Vue isn't listed.
It looks like the problem is electrical with a solenoid not sending a signal to the ignition switch to allow the ignition rod to activate to release the key to rotate off.
Update from Feb 19, 2019: Update: February 2019, my ignition key won't rotate to OFF again. The Dealer diagnosed the Transmission Shifter isn't sending a signal to the ignition. There are no single parts and I have to pay $600 to replace the Transmission Shifter! The same problem happened off/on for one year. This is a known problem, but my Vue
isn't covered????
