Power steering would go out at low speeds making turning very difficult. Power steering pump replaced under GM's Special Coverage but was told the Rack and Pinion is leaking fluid which is what caused the Power Steering Pump to go out. Estimated cost to replace is $1600.00. The pump was replaced under the Special Coverage Bulletin but Rack and Pinion are not covered under this. My understanding from the technician is that typically when the Power Steering Pump goes it is due to issues with Rack and Pinion as they go hand in hand. So why would the bulletin only cover the pump, which will go out again after time if the Rack and Pinion aren't replaced. From my research with the power steering pump issue the main cause has been noted by most people as the Rack and Pinion.

I have had my 2009 Saturn for a little over a year. At about 88,000 miles I noticed that the power steering was getting tough at low speeds, especially in parking lots. I added fluids but it did not seem to help. Checked with local shops and they say it is a common problem. Will cost about $1400 to fix. After reading through the posts on here it seems the fix is temporary. Please make this a recall issue. Someone is going to get hurt. I am afraid that it will fail at a higher speed and be deadly.

This is my wife's vehicle I don't drive it much. When she begin complaining about the steering get stiff a couple of months ago. I gave it a test drive and just figured it needed some power steering fluid. It was a little low on and fluid so I figured that would do the trick. Util she again mentioned to me it was still stiff a few weeks later. I drove the car during one weekend and just about clipped another car as I was pulling into a store while making a slow turn into the parking lot of the store. I had to apply all the force I had on the steering wheel to keep from clipping the other car leaving the parking lot. I realized then it was serious. I plan on getting this fixed this weekend. (8/1/16). I need to have it fixed since my wife is trying to take a trip out of town to see her mother. For her safety and the kids safety, I will bite the bullet and get it repaired...

Difficult to steer at low speeds. TOO MANY PROBLEMS OCCUR RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.
