It rained. Hallelujah. For everyone but someone who owns a 2007 Saturn. The roof of the car is taking on water. It runs through the airbag system, floods the floor, gets the seats wet. And shorts out the circuit board and completely discharges the battery. Completely. Battery tests fine under full charge. Alternator tests fine. It's the same issue I've complained about before. If it rains? The car doesn't run. After charging all night, drove the 20 miles into work fine yesterday morning. Got the airbag warning. No surprise. It rained. But after being parked all day, it needed a jump start (because the water in the roof is sloshing around while I'm driving. And in the middle of rush hour traffic in OKC on my way home, it dies. Completely. No lights. No hazards. No warning. Can't get it into gear. Can't get it out of gear. Can't even get the key out of the ignition. Had to put a jumper cable on it to get the key out and roll it out of traffic. Mechanic says I will eventually destroy the battery and alternator if I have to continually charge and re-charge the battery. I can't afford to replace the battery, the alternator AND the seal on the sunroof which is causing all of the rest of the issues. If the seal was replaced/repaired, the REST of the issues with this car go away. What about the airbags? Are they even functioning anymore? I didn't buy this car new. I didn't want a sunroof. I don't use it. To me? Because it's causing safety issues with airbags, emergency flashers, power, the seal on the sunroof should be recalled.
Update from Aug 30, 2017: It wasn't the sunroof leaking. On the panel where the sunroof is inset, is two small holes to the front of the car. SMALL holes. Pinholes. They are connected to hoses and elbows that's SUPPOSED to drain through the firewall and outside the car. But they get clogged with debris and then the water runs free in the car frame, causing the issues. If you catch it early? Clear those holes. Problem solved. If it's like mine was (clean the what? where?) and they've never been cleaned? It means taking off the dash, the A-frame covers, cleaning lines, make sure you clear the elbows (or it will do it again). Lots of plastic clips to break, be careful. Everything doesn't quite line up the way you want when you're done, but it's labor. Not a ton of parts. Stupid system and the dealerships or shops should know about this instead of saying it's a sunroof leak. Anyway, catch it early and the water doesn't drain directly into the circuit panel. Keep charging your battery every time it rains and you'll blow the diodes in your alternator like I did and have to replace it. Elbows, in-dash, for a drain line are a ridiculous design and that should be under recall for a better system that doesn't involve owner involvement for routine maintenance.
