During cold weather, fuel lines leak/seep raw fuel into engine compartment. If left untreated, could potentially cause engine fire, leading to injury and death. Please get Subaru/Saab to fix asap.

This car, while a Saab by name, is made by Subaru and is mechanically identical to a 2005 impreza WRX. Subaru recalled 2002- 2003 wrxs for a cold weather fuel leak. The recall number is 01-170-09. This car being two model years newer is not covered however it suffers from the exact same issue. During very cold temperatures like the ones we are experiencing now, (below 20 degrees F) raw fuel leaks from a hose in the engine compartment. This smell floods the cabin and is so bad, windows need to be rolled down. I have contacted Subaru for assistance but have yet to receive help.

Very strong fuel smell in car, and in engine compartment after starting car. Ambient outdoor temperatures for the last 4-5 days have been below 20 degrees F. this particular vehicle has been in service in Vermont since February 2007, and in Connecticut before that when originally purchased new. This is the same issue that has already been addressed by Subaru for the 02-03 Subaru WRX (which shares an identical powertrain/fueling system with the Saab 9-2X aero), as outlined in recall # NHTSA campaign id number: 09V468000 EA09011 NHTSA action number: EA09011 (Subaru recall program #wvk-21).

Vehicle has raw fuel smell during cold mornings (<20 degrees F). Appears to be leaking from fuel lines supplying fuel injectors. Could start fire if the problem progresses further.

On cold mornings there's a raw fuel smell indicating, at best, vapors escaping and at worst liquid fuel spillage. A peek down between the intake manifold near the fuel rail shows no pooling, but, some kind of residue on the screw/clamp holding the hose to hardline.

At temperatures below 15F, raw fuel (gasoline) leaks from fuel rail and fuel supply lines at multiple locations onto the engine. This is due to loose hose clamps, rubber hose degradation, and metal fuel line degradation. (note: This car is mechanically identical to 2004 Subaru impreza WRX.)

Fuel leak under intake manifold on 2005 Saab 9-2X occurs whenever there is cold weather. Strong smell of raw fuel fills passenger compartment on startup and continues until engine is warmed up presenting health and safety concerns. Saab 9-2X is identical vehicle to Subaru impreza sport wagon where this problem has been common and extensive since 2002. Subaru recall wvk-21 was issued with extended warranty to cover repairs under Subaru service bulletin 09-36-03. Replacement fuel lines and gasket required to repair problem (wvk-21 repair kit # 10130aa000). Saab will not recognize this recurring problem as a warranty repair. The potential for fire along with health risks exists and must be addressed.

Strong smell of raw fuel at cold start up. Outside temperature approximately 15F. The smell goes away after the car is warmed up after a period of driving. Subsequent occurrences throughout each winter when temperatures are below 20F. Concerned that the leakage could result in a fire or toxic fumes being passed into the passenger compartment. Fuel leakage appears to be related to a known issue with the Subaru impreza platform on which this car is based.

Major fuel leak in cold temperatures on a 2005 Saab 9-2X aero. The fuel line/hose under the intake manifold leaks significantly in cold temperatures. This is a known issue on the Subaru WRX of the same year(s). Subaru of America issued recall campaign wvk-21 on their vehicles, and the Saab 9-2X aero is mechanically the exact same vehicle, however there is no recall for the Saab.

Raw fuel is present and pools on the engine only when outside air temps go below freezing. Happens constantly. Many people on the referring internet site have reported the same problem. I have not been able to determine the proper fix.
