I purchased vehicle used on 2/14/2018. Carfax stated no outstanding recalls. After about one year, very occasionally, when shifting from park to drive, the gear would not engage until the process was repeated. Just recently, while highway driving, both "service engine" and "transmission" warning lights appeared on the dash. This was followed by a near total loss of power and an occasional stall. This obviously created a dangerous safety hazard for me and the other drivers in my area. I took the vehicle to the local Ram dealership (peacock - bluffton, SC) and (after 5 days) was told I needed a new "transaxle range sensor wiring harness" ($700. +/-) and a powertrain software update (warranty). Some research revealed a recall by Fiat-Chrysler (8/2016) for the wiring harness - S55 / NHTSA 16V-529. According to the dealer, Fiat-Chrysler will only honor this recall for a period of 2 years from date of issue. Further research revealed that NHTSA requires recalls be honored for a "reasonable" amount of time, suggesting that 10 years is "reasonable". this is day #8 as the vehicle remains in a bay at the dealership. I am looking from some guidance on how to proceed.

Car was hesitating when starting from a stop. Once in a while the car would jerk back or forward. While driving the check engine light came on and I lost power. The car would only go about 5 mph. Brought back to dealer where he checked the light code and came back as transmission sensor issue. Dealer reset the code and I was ok for a week. Code came back on while driving. Brought back to dealer and they said they would update the software. After about a week the code came back again. This time they gave it to another dealer to look at and they found that it was a bad valve body in the transmission. I have been without the car for a month now as they wait for the back ordered part. All times the light came on I was on a street or route doing under 50 while driving forward

Van loses electrical power when driven and stalls. This is while driving on a city street go straight on the road. This is a off and on issue with this vehicle. It has been to the maintenance shop who could find anything nor codes. Suggested we take it to a dealer, they tell us the same thing. No codes and it drove fine with no issues. Well, I have had two different employees driving it and it has done the same thing a total of four times. It is a power issue as the clock/radio resets each time it happens! dealership has only drove it for 10 minutes. It has stalled after we've used it 4-5 hours in the day.

The vehicle was dropped off and the dealer indicated that they may be able to schedule a diagnostic test on January 4, 2018. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Had vehicle serviced for a cooling fan relay after vehicle displayed a P0481 trouble code. Dealer serviced and replaced fan relay. Vehicle overheated approximately 100 miles later due to a defective cooling fan. The fan melted and smoked and caused the vehicle's temperature to rise rapidly. Dealer informed me that the part was on national backorder and that 3,000 vehicles are currently waiting to be serviced with this particular part due to it's high rate of failure. Estimated repair time of 2 months. Still waiting for part to get delivered. The presence of smoke under the hood and unusually high demand for repair indicates to me that clearly this should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram Promaster city. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle leaked power steering fluid onto the ground. In addition, the transmission indicator illuminated without warning. It was diagnosed that battery acid was leaking onto the transmission cover, which caused all the transmission fluid to leak out of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.

Four times in one day the vehicle transmission and engine warning lights and alarms were activated. Immediately, the vehicle loss power. In one instance, this happened while I was encountering vehicles entering and exiting a highway ramp. The immediate slowing almost caused a collision as vehicles accelerating off the entry ramp and merging into my lane suddenly had to slow or take action to avoid rear ending me. This occurred two more times before I could get the vehicle to the service department. A similar incident happened when I first purchased the vehicle and was advised it was a programming issue. I had received a recall notice, but it advised the parts were not available. It advised I would be notified when the parts are available. The recall did not advise I should not drive the vehicle. I did deliver the vehicle to the servicing dealership advising I would not drive the vehicle until it has been repaired. I was advised by the service department that the part had been ordered. They advised they thought the part was available but could not confirm it. I have been without the vehicle for over two days and have not received any information as to when the vehicle will be repaired. With the loss of power, the vehicle seemed to go into neutral two times. The other two times it seemed to lock into high gear and once you had to slow or stop it could not accelerate. I managed to get off highway twice and restart the vehicle but the other two times I had to restart the vehicle in traffic. It would work properly for a few minutes after restarting but the engine light would stay on.
