We are very satisfied with our vehicle… Except for the water drain problem. When it rains, the water goes down the windshield to the cowl area where there is a drain hole in the middle (about one inch in diameter) good enough for the rain water to drain - except for the bad design of how the tray was engineered with a joint right in the middle of the tray, where water find its way into the engine compartment and you guess it; all of that water gets right on the intake manifold.
In itself that does not seem too much of a problem until you take a closer look at where all of that moisture might end up in… Yeah, right by the brains (ecm) located on the driver side of the engine compartment. Our solution was to apply a generous amount of bath and tub caulking right in the middle of the joint to the left where the one inch drain pipe is. And keep checking for consistency of the material to ensure that no water drains on that area. We also took steps to ensure that no moisture gets to the abs,ecm and a whole other wiring harness on the driver side due to the poor design of very little drain holes that get plugged by dirt and debris. You have to constantly unplug these (one on each side) or at least the one on the driver side or else yeah, again you guessed it, all that rain water does end up getting all of your modules wet! Way to go whoever designs this engine like that. (Saltillo Coahuila, Mex?) That explains the bad reputation this particular vehicle has earned. We think. Other than that we absolutely like our Promaster.
