The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the ABS warning light and the traction control warning light illuminated. Additionally, the message "ABS Disabled" was displayed. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved DTC: C0020-01; and the mechanic determined that the ABS hydraulic pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and several unknown dealers were contacted and advised the contact that they could not accommodate the vehicle due to the size, and that the vehicle could not be serviced because it was not purchased at their location. Additionally, the contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V398000 (Wheels); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure because the manufacturer customer care line was inoperable. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the ABS system was replaced. The contact stated that after the repair was completed, whenever the contact depressed the brake pedal, the pedal was spongy. The ABS and traction control warning lights were again illuminated. The contact stated that a certified mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the hydraulic control unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The local dealer was notified of the failure but was unable to repair the vehicle due to the parts not being available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
