The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was pulling to the left side. The ABS warning light was illuminated, causing the cruise control to be inoperable. Additionally, the front driver's and passenger's side tire treads were worn out quickly since having the recall repair performed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to have an alignment performed due to the nut being welded per the recall remedy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that an alignment needed to be performed, but declined to replace the drag link assembly. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle had previously been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering); however, the contact stated that the dealer only welded the nut to the adjuster sleeve but did not replace the drag link assembly per the remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

The adjuster on my draglink was loose and the nuts were welded to the adjuster and I was told this was a tempoary repair. Today I contacted Ram about a permanent repair for my truck and was informed that weding was a permanent fix. How can you allow this. My front end is no longer adjustable and now I am forced to go to dealer for front end work independent shops do not want the libialty. Welding nuts and cutting them loose weakens the metal are you requiring welding certification for repairs. This repair is not satisfactory please advise thank you

Ram has a recall for the drag link, my dealership has preformed the recall repair which is to weld solid the drag link this is not a proper repair. I would say this is what a backyard mechanic might do to enter a demo derby not a repair on a new truck under warranty. This item came on the truck as an adjustable part of the steering system and Ram fix is to weld this part making it no longer adjustable and the steering can no longer be aligned. My steering wheel is crooked and Ram has told me that's to bad we are going to do nothing for you that's Ram customer care not the dealer...

Recently, I departed from home in my truck to head out on errands. I found it was difficult to steer. Realizing it felt like a flat front tire, I pulled off the road and found the front right tire was flat. At no time did I receive any warning from the factory installed tire pressure monitoring system. Looking at the TPMS, the pressure indicated 14 psi, then later 11 psi. At no time did I receive an audible or visual alarm from the truck. Later I had the nearby dealership investigate this, and they reported the system is working as designed, but they can't/won't show me in writing when the alarms are supposed to activate. I have an open case with Ram customer care, but the manager continues to point towards the dealership's verbal answer. Another person I know was recently driving towing a heavy rig when another driver pointed out to them that they had a flat tire on the truck. They told me they had not received any warning from the TPMS. As you know, the risk of a tire overheating and blowing is what TPMS is supposed to help drivers avoid. A TPMS that is not warning drivers after about 10-20% loss of pressure is creating a risk for operators and other vehicles and passengers.

My vehicle is subject to a recall for the steering drag link assembly. The recall states the assembly will be inspected and welded as the repair. There is a replacement part listed on the recall however dealers are not installing the revised part. I contacted fca (Chrysler) corporate office about the safety concern with welding steering components. My contact was to receive the revised steering drag link since no credible automotive automotive source approves of welding steering components and that beyond the safety issue the part is no longer adjustable or functional to adjust during routine front end alignments and will require replacement at the owners expense. The response from the executive referrals manager was that I had one choice and that was to bring my truck to a dealer for the stated recall repair and that welding the drag link was approved by their engineers. I stated that the repair was unacceptable and that I would pay for the revised part and the installation through the dealer even though my truck is still covered by the original bumper to bumper warranty. I was informed that neither the replacement part or any other Chrysler/mopar part is available for the consumer and they would not assist me in having the dealer install the revised part at my cost. I asked what if I have a aftermarket drag link installed. I was told the recall would not be cleared on my vehicle, I would be responsible for for any defects in the steering components, and that fca would be absolved of any responsibility. Its no secret that fca is rated lowest of any manufacture in customer satisfaction, however this is a major safety concern for the nearly one million recalled vehicles. The truck is not safe to drive and fca is worried about cost not safety. Fca has given the owners no option by refusing to provide updated parts and forbidding the installation of aftermarket parts.

V06/NHTSA 19V-021 the fix for this recall is not adequate, welding an component that has part its functionally, adjustment and maintainability, rendering it useless, could be considered causing irreparable damage. I believe recalls should not damage a vehicle, but return it as functional as intended.
