This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My tailgate keeps opening on it's own whenever it wants to. It opens while driving and parked. I Transport rvs for a living and if the tailgate falls and I don't realize it, it can damage the unit and I have to pay to fix it, when it is a Chrysler known issue. The recall that just came out is for only short beds and I have a long bed. I need this issued resolved under the recall, but cannot because it's supposedly not included in the recall.
Multiple times my tailgate has just flipped open on it's own, when parked and hitting the lock button on the key fob, and while driving down the road. There is currently a new recall on Ram trucks for this exact problem but the recall excludes trucks with 8' beds. My truck has an 8' bed - and has this problem and should be included in the recall.
There is a chassis vibration issue where the entire truck shakes at speeds over 60 mph. The seats shake and the whole truck shakes as if a tire is really out of balance. There is no shake in the steering wheel however, and new tires, and recently balanced tires, have no effect on the issue. It seems to start in the rear of the vehicle. Many people on the forums report the same problem and no one has found a fix for it that I know of. Dealers just throw new tires and wheels at the problem with no resolution. Check forums like cumminsforum.com and turbo diesel register for the hundreds of threads on the issue. Also appears 2500 and 3500S are both effected and have different rear suspension setups.
