I purchased the Ram 3500, and within 15,000 mile I started to get the death wobble, real bad. I tried to contact the dealer, and they told me two weeks before they could look at it, or I could leave it at the dealership. My job requires me to travel and I use the truck for work so this was not possible. I researched the issue and found if I upgraded my steering stabilizers it would resolve the issue.
This worked for about a 1000 miles and then it happened again. Not as often, but much worse to the point it turns me sideways, aiming towards the ditch. I took it in to have the alignment done so I could start working through other potential problems, and was told that it could not be done because my ball joints were out. After seeing the estimate I took it to a dealership who told me they were with in spec, and they would not replace them under warranty. As well that he solution to the wobble was to do what I had already done. So a $54,000 truck with continuous problem is my fault for trusting their brand, and if I want to fix the problems it comes out of my pocket twice because warranty is everything to get out of it.
I received a blowout, and put on the spare that came with the truck. The rim and tire were smaller than the ones on the truck, and caused the traction control to keep kicking in. This eventually made the brake so hot that it caught fire. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher, as I was in the national grasslands of North Dakota. Had to replace both rear brake systems, two new tires, and a new spare rim, plus a day down from work.
