Rear backup camera display frequently failed for brief periods of time. Failure was unpredictable. I backed into low post hitting corner of rear bumper on passenger side during such a display failure. This resulted in major damage to the rear bumper.

The transmission down shifts by itself while driving down the road. You have to stop an change the gears to park then start again.I has happened 3 or 4 times.most of the time when you stop at a light or stop sign and take off when it drops to a lower gear it makes a sudden jerk. Some times tyhe transmission slams in to gear rather hard, I am going to be out of warranty if some one does not fix this problem. It has 12,276.7 miles on it as of right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don, t drive it much but it is going to blow the engine up or the tramission.

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (as mandated by NHTSA) fails to function properly. The system can be inspected upon request by the NHTSA because the local dealerships cannot determine the problem and refuse to contact the manufacture. Operating vehicles with over/under inflated ties causes numerous driving difficulties as well as premature and unnecessary wear on the tires. If it wasn't a concern the NHTSA wouldn't have mandated TPMS. Dealership refuses to acknowledge there is a problem. They just inflate the tires to the manufacturer recommendation and say its fixed. 2-3 days later the system tells me I have low tires. When I Check my tires with a Digital Gauge the tire pressure is correct. Problem started 10 months after purchasing this vehicle new in Jan 2022. After confirming with the dealership the installation of aftermarket Tires/Wheels would NOT void my warranty, I had the Dealer installed a set of aftermarket tires/wheels. They were supposed to remove the TP Sensors from each tire/wheel and installed in the new aftermarket tires/wheels. At this point I don't know if its a Tire Sensor problem, a problem with the system ( I believe behind the rear seat) that relays the information to the Dash Cluster or the Uconnect5 System where the Tire Pressures can be set. Dealer states I MUST inflate ties to the Tire Pressure Label installed by the manufacture on the Door Jam. I know from 23 year military transportation experience and having a friend loose his life because of over inflating a tire in the Vehicle Maintenance Shop as well as a Commercial Driver License Instructor You always use the information on the side of the tire provided by the Tire Manufacture. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System is accessed through the UConnect5 Computer System where the owner can program features associated with the vehicle such as Temperature, Lighting, Radio Stations, Tire Pressures and a host of other features.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" Tailgate came open on several occasions How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could have caused items in the truck bed to fall out and strike other automobiles Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I took the car to the dealer and they stated they had "adjusted and tested" said it is good Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear"

Recall inspection of tailgate was performed by Pohanka RAM of Salisbury one month ago (visual inspection). Truck was deemed fine and recall ticket closed. While driving yesterday, the tailgate opened and truck bed contents fell out. Fortunately, vehicle behind swerved and second vehicle behind stopped and blocked roadway and assisted with retrieving contents that fell out.

While driving at 25mph in 4H, I heard what sounded like television static instead of the music I'd been playing with Carplay. Moments later my dashboard indicators flashed wildly and randomly. Within a few seconds, smoke was billowing out of the hood and fire was visible in the engine bay. The entire vehicle eventually burned down.

I was notified of the Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor not being installed in the exhaust aftertreatment system of my vehicle on a post delivery survey I received. The dealership's service department has no idea about this sensor not being installed by the factory, and the response from the letter stated there would be a recall soon to have the PM sensor installed, but that has not happened over a year later. The ECU will need an update once the sensor is installed, which would allow the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) gauge to function. This poses a risk to unknown regeneration occurrences, which could lead to a fire if the vehicle is parked next to dry grass or other flammable material. It also poses a significant risk for exhaust system emissions component failure in the future. The sensors and software update need to be completed as soon as possible.

Brand new Ram 2500 Diesel caught fire after about 1100 miles. Best I can tell it started around the alternator. Made a low -??whirring-?? or -??humming-?? noise during a few short drives just prior to the event that had not happened before. I was just parking when I noticed smoke coming from under the hood and opened it up to find a small fire involving the alternator and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. The fire department came out and ensured it was extinguished and then a fire investigator came out and conducted an investigation. Took three days to get the dealership to accept the truck being towed back so it can be investigated by manufacturer.

I recently purchased a 2022 Ram 2500 equipped with the u-connect 5 system and the 12 inch display screen. The 12 inch screen controls all radio, navigation, phone and climate functions. After driving the truck for an extended period of time, the 12 inch screen will lock up and all functions are lost. I was told by the dealer to "reset" the display by pressing the volume and tuning buttons simultaneously, and after that to do a "hard reset" through the radio controls. This does correct the problem, but it will eventually lock up again. The dealer advised me they must be able to recreate the problem to diagnose it. They also advised due to the extended drive time for the problem to occur, they would probably not be able to recreate the situation. I have contacted Ram and u-connect about the issue, and they too advise the dealer must be able to recreate the problem to fix it. They also indicated they have never had anyone else complain about the screen locking up. When I google this issue I have found numerous articles online posted by people experiencing the same issue, so I know I am not alone. My reason for contacting NHTSA is the loss of the climate controls, specifically the windshield defroster, when the radio screen is locked up. Many times in my life I have found the need to very quickly activate the front windshield defroster to maintain visibility. I am concerned if the screen is locked up, and the defroster cannot be activated, a crash may occur.

The manufacturer has failed to remedy the situation in a timely manner. As shown in this complaint forum, the recall was issued March 10. I did not take delivery until March 24 with no mention of the recall. I received the notice in the mail on April 4. The dealer says April 14 before I can get in for a 10 minute software update! So, now it's my problem! I can sit and stare at my new $75,000 truck, or I can choose to drive an unsafe vehicle. No choice when it comes time for the update, I have a 200 mile, one way drive to get to the dealer. The manufacturer and the dealer were well aware of this problem BEFORE they took my money and sent me down the road in an unsafe vehicle. I think that is criminal. Everyone is treating this as a software "glitch". For me it comes after 2 years of swapping paper with FCA in order to settle on an Eco Diesel. Remember the Eco Diesel? Makes one wonder if it's a glitch or standard business practice at FCA.

After winter snow 3 inches when electric deployed running boards were deployed to enter vehicle when stepping on to the running board ir was found to be covered is black ice. This caused loss of traction and slipping. No injuries occurred but were very likely if not for some luck. The current design allows for melting snow to drip down rhe doors and freeze on the running boards that are recessed under the truck.
