The contact stated he had to press the release button on the tailgate while pushing the tailgate for the tailgate to respond. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. My 2019 Ram 2500 limited has the forward collision warning system, however, the system does not function as sold or intended. I have taken the vehicle to multiple dealerships in an attempt to resolved the issue, however neither the dealerships nor fca has any idea how to resolve. Fca customer service believes it may be software related, but currently has no idea when/if a solution will arise. Currently the vehicle sensors do not seem to function at all, and the vehicle absolutely could not prevent a forward collision if required. All advertising and owner's manual documentation state the vehicle can and should be able to prevent a forward collision, and I believe this misrepresentation could prove hazardous to both vehicle owners and other drivers on the road if the system does not function as advertised on both the internet website for Ram trucks, or the owner's manual provided with these vehicles.
