The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the rear liftgate erroneously opened. The failure had occurred while driving and pulling a trailer and also while the vehicle was parked without the trailer being hauled. During the failure, body damage to the liftgate had occurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic liftgate actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact purchased the vehicle from brandon Dodge on broadway (5600 S broadway, littleton, co 80121, (303) 794-4205). While driving 45 mph, ten miles away from the dealer, the driver noticed through the rearview mirror that the tailgate opened independently without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and closed the liftgate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
