After nearly a month of driving my new RAM I noticed the steering was off center, is was a slow process. I jacked up the truck and crawled under the front and found the nut on the draglink loose, so I straightened the wheels and centered the steering wheel. When we moved from California to Washington, I took the truck into the dealership for an oil change, and they noted a recall on the steering draglink. They tightened up the draglink really tight and I think they put a weld on the nut. No problem so far it's been 8 years.

This 2015 Dodge Ram Lariat 4x4 Diesel is the 4th. one I have purchased in the past 9 years. it has only 6,000 miles due to the numerous recalls. Primary computer, water pump (2-1/2 years to get this fixed) and lastly this drag link issue. First and foremost. and after contacting this less than useless Fiat Customer, or lack thereof, Service or Recall Department, not sure what they call themselves, and trying first to obtain info when a replacement part would be available and was told "not sure" but a tack weld would solve the problem. I am not sure which foreign country these Fiat reps are out of but it could not possible be the US as our Citizens should be a tad smarter than that.

I recommended that they should possible get in touch with someone that had some automotive and welding experience. Problems with the Tack Welds have been discussed in the your other submittal comments. However, the most important issue is the Fiat engineers proposing this type of a fix for the short or long term. Firstly any welds, tack or otherwise, must be performed in accordance with an approved welding Procedure (WPS) and secondly that the welder must qualify to this procedure to demonstrate competence in making this subject weld, tack or otherwise.

Fiat has not developed or had developed a WPS of this Tack weld type. During further discussions with the twits, as I refer to them, I tried to get them to understand the massive litigation Fiat would be in in the event of an accident with or without a tack weld and knowingly they have these vehicles running up and down the roads with this defect in and out of the US. I have had to use this vehicle with the defective water pump, computer issues and now with the drag link - but only to pull a trailer with my tractors to and from my farm in North Dakota, and both trips were nail biting as a result of the weight and stress on this steering assembly. Did not drive it but 288 miles after purchase and receipt of the water pump recall.

I have significant medical issues and the last thing I need is to have an issue someplace and be in a rural area at night during these transfer trips. I have reverted to using my 2000 Ford 4x4 Super Duty which has not had any issues and only 160,000 trouble free miles. Much better reliability than this 2015 Dodge Ram which sits in my shop building taking up space pending resolution of the steering issue which does not seem to be forthcoming. Need a class Action Lawsuit to get this issue resolved. I also have a 1934 Ford Model BB 1-1/2 ton Dump Truck that is more reliable than this Dodge and a lot faster as I can drive it and haul, pull etc, without any trouble. Never had a recall on it...
