While cleaning and detailing the vehicle on 01/31/23, it was noticed that there is severe cracking in the plastic assembly that holds the seatbelt in place. A malfunction has not yet occurred, but this seems as if it could be a potential hazard once the plastic completely fails. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Seatbelt failures put the driver, front passenger and rear passengers, as well as other vehicles, at risk of injury or fatality in an accident. I have not contacted any dealers or independent service centers regarding this issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the potential failure. I am unsure of when the cracks first appeared, but have owned the vehicle since 2015.

The dealer stated that they would repair the vehicle per NHTSA campaign number: 15V460000 (seat belts, air bags), but not the collateral damages. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened an investigation; however, the matter had not been resolved. The approximate failure mileage was 77,800. Parts distribution disconnect.
