Have been having problems over the past year with my 2013 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 5.7 liter V8 transmission. Last September 2017 I brought it in to the dealer due to having a delay when shifting from Drive into Reverse. The delay would cause my vehicle to roll forward when on a decline because it is not engaging into reverse. The delay has been anywhere from 5-30 seconds or until I accelerate and raise the RPM (which is not good). The dealer replaced the valve body and returned my truck.
Within a month it reverted back to doing the same delay. I brought it in again to the same dealer in May 2018 and they replaced a seal (I believe). Again within a few weeks it was continuing the delay. I decided to bring it to a different dealer and they were able to duplicate it on the first day. The transmission technician mentioned that he felt the transmission needed to be replaced. When hearing of this, I guess, Chrysler engineers wanted to duplicate it again so as to really diagnose the issue. They said they were unable to duplicate the problem during a two week period in July 2018. They returned my truck to me without any fix or resolution.
Within a day I was able to duplicate the issue and informed the dealer. They wanted me to bring it back to duplicate it for them. I brought it back on 8/04/2018. The Service Manager drove the truck with me and was able to duplicate the problem in the back lot of the dealer. He told me that he was able to duplicate it before (during the two weeks in July) but said it was normal for the delay in shifting on a decline. He wasn't able to tell me the reason but he mentioned that all the cars in the lot do it. He even said his GMC truck delays when shifting from Drive and Reverse on a decline.
I have never had a vehicle have this issue in my life. I need a resolution ASAP. My truck has only 47,000 miles.
